R Cooper Long
Building a presence
from almost nothing.
R Cooper Long is preparing to release his first music as a solo artist. With no released catalog, few existing assets, and only a small amount of information to work with, the challenge was making a sparse site feel intentional rather than unfinished.
- Role
- Visual design, UX/UI, development
- Scope
- Artist website / press / booking
- Approach
- Make less feel deliberate.
Restraint travels well.
The sparse structure translates naturally to mobile. Rather than reproduce desktop compositions at a smaller scale, spacing, sequencing, and image placement shift around the narrower viewport while the basic experience stays intact.

The press page gives buyers and other industry contacts a way to hear unreleased music directly alongside the artist's biography and downloadable press images. The site can do its immediate job now, without depending on the existence of public facing material.
A small amount of content doesn't have to feel like an absence thereof. The work was utilizing negative space in a way that would feel deliberate, leaning on motion to add visual interest, and still creating a faithful representation of R Cooper Long’s at once playful and sincere brand.
